WATERS GULCH DIGITAL ANNOUNCES
START OF LOCAL DOCUMENTATION SUPPORT BUSINESS

JACKSONVILLE, OREGON (February 15th, 2003)...Waters Gulch Digital announced today it is open for business.

Recognizing the need for support of small businesses seeking assistance in developing user, technical and employee training documentation, Richard Nilsson has created Waters Gulch Digital. The company will help customers design and implement documentation systems.

"It's hard for a small businesses to maintain competent fulltime staff for the purpose of developing and updating customer documentation." says Nilsson, "I know, because as an employee, I struggled to continue justifying even a small staff for a couple of companies in the [Medford] area." Nilsson says he can help local companies with choosing a documentation "look", teaching existing staff documentation techniques, setting up production facilities and procedures, and even supply editorial assistance.

"Technical writing is characteristically different from common office letter-writing." Nilsson explains, "Documenting clear and accurate step-by-step operational procedures requires skills in organization of thought and an in-depth understanding of the subject." With a background based in Electronics Engineering, Nilsson has had extensive military and industrial installation, training and documentation experience with complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems. "Engineers hate documenting their work, perceiving this task as tedious. I've many times been on the customer-support end, needing accurate and clear documentation to do my job. So I am acutely aware of what is required in a manual!" he states.

Privately-owned Waters Gulch Digital plans to operate only in Southern Oregon, providing Web and hardcopy documentation services to companies between Grants Pass and Ashland. Willing to sign non-disclosure agreements, Waters Gulch Digital will interview client's engineers, learn to use their products in order to structure and document them. "We will be so attentive, you'll think we're part of your organization," Nilsson promises."

"We also have experience in designing and implementing dynamic e-commerce websites," Nilsson adds, "using inexpensive Open Source resources such as Linux®, Apache Web Server, MySQL and PHP (LAMP) technologies." Linux, a UNIX®-clone, has made steady inroads since its introduction in 1991, and is enjoying strong popularity growth in technical and more recently, enterprise circles.
