WATERS GULCH DIGITAL ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY
OF WEB AUTHORSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM

JACKSONVILLE, OREGON (March 19th, 2004)...Waters Gulch Digital announces the availability of Web authorship training programs.

Waters Gulch Digital, a Rogue Valley web design company, has announced that it will offer three levels of training in web design to individuals or companies wishing to do their own web design, rather than hiring a commercial designer.

"Designing for the Web has turned a corner for the better this century," explains Rik Nilsson, WGD's sole proprietor, "and given the current browser technology, it is easier and cheaper to design dynamic and elegant web sites than ever before."

WGD offers a thorough publishing course in three parts: "Web Publishing with XHTML", "Designing with 21st-Century Standards" and "Dynamic LAMP Sites for E-Commerce". Although the first two programs require little in the way of prior knowledge, the third, involving PHP and MySQL query languages, is intended for more experienced designers. Each detail-filled program is three hours long, but "Because we drive hard and fast, presenting concepts bolstered with frequent hardcopy handouts, we can impart a surprising quantity of instruction in a short time." says Nilsson. He goes on to say, "Attendees will be immediately more productive and come away with techniques they can use right away."

Seminar attendees will be exposed to graphic design concepts (contrast, color, balance) and use of typography as design elements as well as the mechanics of coding. The first two programs are companion series, and are not offered separately. "You just can't cover XHTML structure and CSS presentation coding basics in less than six hours of instruction." Rik explains, "But the benefits of learning 21st-century techniques are rewarding for designers, both personally and economically."

Waters Gulch Digital offers courses for individuals as well as groups, but prefers to instruct a class size of eight to twenty maximum. Nilsson has taught web design technology for several years, including sessions for the Rogue Community College. Individuals or company staffers with current HTML web design knowledge and experience could probably skip the first session and benefit greatly from the "Designing with Standards" program alone.

Waters Gulch Digital, a privately owned company, operates primarily in Oregon's Rogue Valley area and on the Web. Contact them at WatersGulchDigital.com or rik@watersgulchdigital.com.
